Description
The sun wasn't showing any signs of getting up yet, but Emma was. She had received a text telling her to go to
the park, and to not delay. What did they need? It wasn't like them to just text out of the blue. Maybe they found out
about the truth too? Oh, she prayed that they didn't. It almost made her go past her breaking, and if they were to
realize what they really were... Emma picked up her pace to meet her very close friend as soon as she could. Please,
please be okay!
Thankfully she lived close to the park, so it wasn't a very far walk, but her friend was no where to be seen. They must
have been on the nature trail. Emma began to call their name, but only the cold wind on the freezing winter day seemed
to be answering. Finally, after going so far in they were by the frozen lake, her friend was visible. Their magi outfit was
visible too. "I'm so glad I finally found. What was the text--" She couldn't even finish the second sentence before they
were standing in front of her. Their red, puffy eyes gave away that they had been crying. No.
"You knew? Right? You started to act differently too, that should have given away that you knew." Their voice was
scratchy. Had they been yelling? "Why didn't you tell me? It would have been better if you were the one who told me."
No, you're wrong, it would have been worse. Please understand. Emma couldn't speak. Tears were beginning to
form in her eyes. Stop. "Can I see your soul gem? Please?"
Why they would need Emma's soul gem wasn't something she was thinking about. Her conscious was filled with too
much guilt to care about that. The earring that she never took off was carefully handed to the Magi. "I'm going to save
you, okay? You won't feel anymore pain, or sadness, or regret. I'll protect you." What were they talking about. Why were
they saying that. What were they planning--
"What, what are you going on about?" Despite being filled with fear at this moment, Emma put on a smile. "You can't
stop me from feeling those things unless you do the unspeakable. Which, I shouldn't even have to say, right? Since it is
unspeakable." Forced laughter comes out of her. They weren't talking, only holding her soul gem in their hand. "I want
to keep living, please, I don't, I don't want to die." All of her tears that Emma tried to hold back were coming out now.
"I told you I would save you." Those were the last words she heard before the magi crushed her soul gem.
Death by Magi is probably how she will go, but Emma isn't gone yet!
